Symphonie Fantastique is a film vérité that echoes the written words of an anonymous Latin American woman, trapped in the middle of a dark and isolating winter in Chicago, to her distant lover in Mexico, who has suddenly stopped replying to her letters. The film uses a single shot for each of the three chosen locations and invites intimate observation and patience through methodical sequence shots and narration.
