13th GOLLUT FESTIVAL

Presentation

The Friends of Cinema Association of the Vall de Ribes presents the 13th edition of the Gollut Festival , a local film festival, outside the central circuits, which is held in Ribes de Freser. The Festival’s headquarters is Cinema Catalunya, a century-old cinema that has been regularly screening films for over 100 years.

The Gollut Festival is committed to auteur, social cinema and new narratives in the Pyrenees, promoting inclusion, critical reflection and the collective experience of cinema from a decentralized perspective.

In the creative field, the festival gives visibility to cinematographic and audiovisual pieces committed to social issues, diversity and cultural rights. It also supports auteur cinema with creative freedom, ethical and aesthetic commitment, which explores new narratives, genres and forms of audiovisual representation. It also wants to support emerging filmmakers and peripheral proposals that often remain on the fringes of commercial circuits and canonical cinema stories. This year, the festival is committed to experimental cinema in its line of short films as an entry for new talents and groundbreaking proposals.

Finally, it aims to promote creativity and audiovisual research, promoting works that review, rethink and experiment with the possibilities of cinematic language, both in the formal and content areas.

Each edition is defined by a central thematic axis consistent with the festival’s identity and with the desire to promote a critical reading of the world. This year, under the title Out of Focus, the festival focuses on stories and realities that are often invisible, offering stories that propose new ways of observing, inhabiting and relating to the world, with transformative perspectives on society. This approach allows us to escape from contemporary social fatigue, generating spaces for reflection and dialogue.

The festival awards several prizes that recognize the creativity, formal risk and social commitment of the selected works.
